Welcome new Redhawks! We look forward to welcoming you and your family + supporters to the Redhawk community.

The following virtual events are important to your transition to Seattle U. Please mark your calendars to join us. All event times are PDT.

  • Participate in virtual events with current students. Please see the "Getting Involved" section below.

(NS) Week of July 6: Advising Sessions by School/College (required)

  • Along with other students, learn about the advising relationship, what you need to explore prior to registration, and next steps to create your fall course schedule. You will be able to sign up for one of multiple meeting times for your school/college and will receive an email message soon with instructions for how to do this.  

(F+S) July 7, 5:00 - 6:00 PM: How to Help Your Student through Transition

  • Attending college is a time of transition for most students. This session is facilitated by Laurie Prince, director of Parent & Family Engagement and Dr. Kim Caluza, director of Counseling & Psychological Services. You’ll hear about the transition experiences of some of our current students and learn coaching strategies that can help your Redhawk soar. This session is most helpful to family and supporters of students who have no or less than a year of prior college experience.

  • This event will address questions about Fall Quarter housing assignments, connecting with your roommate, meal plans, student accounts & billings, residence hall move-in appointment process, etc.

(NS) Week of July 20: Registration Week (required)

  • It’s Reg Week! Join us for your first ever Registration Week. With the assistance of academic advising staff, select your fall courses. You will be able to sign up for one of multiple meeting times for your school/college and will receive an email message with instructions for how to do this.

(ALL) July 21, 5:00 - 6:00 PM: Healthcare in Seattle

  • This session will review healthcare services available in the Seattle area including the Seattle University Student Health Center as well as information about the Student Health Insurance Plan and immunizations.

  • This presentation will cover information about mental health concerns for college students. Presenters will review resources available at SU for supporting students' mental health.

  • Join Disability Services Senior Director, Kim Thompson, as she presents key information about the high school-to-university transition process for students with disabilities.  Topics include: options for accommodation in the university setting, getting the process started, documentation guidelines, and tips for supporting your student from a distance.

  • Please join Seattle University Campus Ministry and an interfaith panel of students and alumni to hear about their experiences as people from a variety of faith traditions and spiritual perspectives on a Catholic campus.  You’ll learn how they found community with students of their own faith traditions, as well as how they grew spiritually and learned by connecting with others across faith lines.

  • Vark: A Guide to Learning Preferences - How well do you understand your own learning preferences? Take the VARK assessment to better understand how you learn best and then apply strategies tailored to your individualized learning preferences to your studies.

Getting Involved

Involvement outside the classroom is vital to the Seattle U student experience and adds a dynamic element to the university’s core values of Academic Excellence, Diversity, Service, Leadership, Justice, and Faith. The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) supports over 100 student-led clubs and orgs and students can check out these opportunities and get involved through the CSI’s online platform ConnectSU. SU’s Center for Community Engagement serves as the main entry point for students who want to engage in the local community. This includes service-learning opportunities, university-assisted community schools, direct service, community-based advocacy, and more.
