Communication Department Chair Sonora Jha has published her first novel, Foreign (Random House India, 2013). With a backdrop of real-life news stories about farmers' suicides in India, the book follows the story of a mother and son who are thrown into the crisis of a world that they know little about.
"When the son runs away to India to find his father, the mother seeks to bring him back and in the process finds herself caught up in the suicide epidemic among Indian farmers. To find her way out, she has to begin to care about these people yet get out of their way," Jha said.
